Summary
Alicent Hightower had not heard her own name spoken aloud for seven years. She felt, frequently, that Alicent, that girl who entered the Missionaries of the Mother at seventeen was dead. Only Sister Philomena remained. That was how she had been addressed ever since she passed her first year of aspirancy and postulancy and became a novice, donning the slate-colored robes that covered her body from head to toe and taking her first vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. At twenty-five, she was preparing to take her final, permanent vows.

Summary
It’s a downright demeaning way to live, she inherently knows this. Alicent used to think one day she would let the guilt get the best of her and end this thing between them before it even really got started, but she’s come to realize over the last few months how weak she is.
It makes her feel dizzy to realize how afraid she is, and how despite that fear, she does it anyway. Gives in time and time again, like Rhaenyra is not a spoiled brat and instead some undeniable force of nature.
(Or, where time and time again Rhaenyra proves she is far from being scrupulous to get what she wants, and time and time again Alicent proves she can’t deny what she undeniably wants.)

in which Rhaenyra Targaryen realizes she's bisexual against a hedge at her cousin's party, discovers the girl she was kissing bears a suspicious resemblance to her best friend, and decides to simply not think about the implications until Alicent, who's been thinking of it since they were twelve, confesses first.
