Summary
Your husband is cheating on you.
At least, that’s what you think. It’s what everyone you confide in about your crumbling marriage thinks, too.
The truth, however, is much, much more sinister.
Or: Leon is dying, and his grand plan is to either figure it out himself without getting you
infectedinvolved, or quietly become a KIA statistic to spare you the pain of watching him go. -

Summary
Genius is sanity’s greatest foe—a sweat-slick impetus of adagios, bloody cuticles and limp thighs stained with cello hickies. Genius comes at a customary price of just the right flavor of ceaseless madness. Your bill, for instance, included perpetually rosined fingers, an eternity of chronic migraines, and one failed marriage. Some could argue that’s still somewhat merciful.
Your husband, Viktor, begged to differ. Of course, if only there were any residue of begging left in him. You swore the flimsy thing was still there, rattling its last breaths at the corners of his chapped lips, grieving the tender ‘milackú’ now irrevocably reduced to but a curt ‘professor’. If anything, he hid the sentiment concerningly well. Each one of his brief nods before the orchestra practice was strictly professional and devoid of any warmth—as chiseled as it gets.

Summary
“C’mon, it’ll be convenient.”
You hate that word. You hate that word with your whole being. Back then, it meant something entirely different when he said it. We can get to know each other, then we can get married. It doesn’t have to be a big deal. It’ll be convenient. Convenient is why you married him. Convenient is why you are here now.
