He takes a smoke out of his back jeans pocket, joggling the pack in front of Michael’s face. He angrily takes it.
“Dad and I found her first, you have to remember that. Now that she’s gone, it's like I don’t even exist.” Sam pauses, frowning. “...The gang let me stay with them for a couple of days, and Dad didn’t even notice. If he did, he hasn’t said anything to me. I just need you to… Keep it together, however you can. Please.” His voice cracks, his eyes colourless.
“I…” Michael’s chest bubbles, synthetic magma popping, and icebergs settle in his stomach. He angrily butts his head against Sam’s shoulder, wet curls tickling his temple. Sam’s shoulder trembles. Michael lights his cigarette, face illuminated by the lighter. Face wet, he takes a puff, and hacks a little before covering his mouth, looking embarrassed.

It was silent, strangely so. Arnold typed mindlessly on his keyboard, just to have something amid the quiet.
“You could at least tell me your name, you know.”
Arnold heard garbled laughter over the receiver. It didn’t surprise Arnold that Dispatch had heard him; he is always monitoring.
“That information is not on the Fazbear Entertainment ‘Need-to-know list!’”
The employee rolled his eyes, ended the program on the monitor, and cracked his neck. “Well, I think that endo is valuable Fazbear property, and you won’t get it if I just walk out of here, will you?”

“God, I’m so sorry Sydney. Fuck, I shouldn’t have called you.” He stutters out, getting stuck on the words. He wipes at his face weakly with his sleeve. Not that it helps. He starts lifting the phone from his ear, but-
“No, no- Carmen, don’t you dare hang up. Listen, it’s okay. I’m headed over there right now, okay?” He hears her speaking away from the phone, and another voice on the line. He feels shame puddle around him. He’s had thoughts, before. Remembers planning everything out just so nobody would ever have to find his body. At least, nobody who knew or cared about him. He’d eventually be found down an alleyway, and someone else’s day would be ruined. Not Mikey’s, not Sugar’s day.
Never Sugar’s day. Not now, especially not now. She deserved better than this. He’s an asshole. God, Sydney deserves better. A better partner, a better fucking friend. Not that she needs him. She’s a fucking flame. He never wants to stop watching her. Never wants to put out her fire.
He won’t see her again, he realizes, if he dies. If he fucking dies like a dumbass, he will never get to make her laugh. Won’t rebuild her trust in him that little fucking bit.

"Man turns his back on his family, he ain't no friend of mine," Steve's dad sings in the kitchen, Bruce Springsteen blasting from the record player. He always listens to records as loud as he can, and even though it bursts Steve's eardrums and makes mom disappear upstairs, Steve savors these moments. His dad winks and shimmies his shoulders, and Steve scrubs dishes as he watches his dad come alive to the music, until eventually, the tap water clicks off and Steve joins his dad, bouncing on his toes and swinging until he's numb.
Looking at this picture, you'd never know that ten years ago his dad almost killed him with a golf club.
