The Fool sighed and closed his eyes, but he drew slightly away from me, raising one hand palm upward — the one whose three fingers were silvered by the Skill. Instinctively, I glanced at my own wrist, at the place where those fingers had once left their marks upon me, marks that had long since vanished.
“Do you want me to give it back to you?” he asked softly, his voice trembling, not looking at me.
I pressed my forehead to his temple.
“I never wanted you to take it away from me,” I replied, lowering my voice as well.
About a night that proves to be far more than merely the long-awaited beginning of summer for the Fitz and the Fool. About the night when their feelings for one another finally bloom in full and come into the open, resulting in a completely unexpected turn of events.

Shane rolls his eyes, secretly relieved that Rozanov isn't making a bigger deal of the gesture than it needs to be. He pulls the bunch of tulips out of the bag and thwacks Rozanov lightly on the shoulder with them.
“You ungrateful asshole,” he says. “You stay here and try to nap. I’m going to get started on the soup.”

Summary

That was this new river loosed within me. I had always known that he belonged to me, my friend, my Fool, my wielder even. My self, in some fundamental way I could not express. Despite any of our petty quarrels I had never truly doubted that. But I belonged to him as well, past, future, present. Heart and body. As much his as I was my own. The knowledge ran through me with the brandy, and left me just as giddy.
