Summary
Rocky stands at the entrance of the dorm.
“Grace ok, question?”
“…no bud. I’m not.”
“…” Rocky seems to want to step forward, thinks better of it, then shrinks away at the admission, the ball wobbling as he takes a step back. On the far edge of the bed. Grace takes stark notice of the berth and feels cold. His fingers pluck absentmindedly at the sideseams of his shirt. “Grace upset. At Rocky, question?”
Grace doesn’t respond right away, letting the question sink in. Rocky doesn’t push, for which he can only thank tirelessly. He can’t let himself relish in the final moments he will ever hold Rocky’s respect, not when they are so tinged with tension. He clears his throat.
“Let me tell you a story, ok? I think it might help.”

There’s this thing about waves: the longer they lap at wet sand, the denser it gets. And Grace is choking on sand that’s been there for years.

Summary
It’s Father’s Day weekend, and Cal is freaking the fuck out.
Father’s Day and Mother’s Day are important dates in the Weaver household. They are sacred. Sacrosanct. Nothing keeps them from their plans, not soccer games, not medical emergencies, not even LSAT prep. It is a Weaver-only event.
And Hannah has just walked through the door for their time-honored Father’s Day brunch with Jacob in tow, looking for all the world like the smug sonofabitch he always is.
Or: Jacob Palmer's dad has been dead for a long time, and Cal Weaver is a weak, weak man.

Summary
This story begins the morning after Jacob and Hannah’s failed ‘bang’.
Hannah is a serious ‘boyfriend’ type and Jacob has little-to-no experience with the idea. Follow the pair as they get to know each other and build their lives around someone for the first time. Domesticity is more welcome to Jacob than he ever would’ve expected and Hannah learns to live a little more on the edge.

Summary
One of Jacob's most useful tricks when he used to be a lothario was to fake sick whenever a girl he'd hooked up with asked him to do anything further, anything romantic instead of sexual. He taught Cal this trick and bragged heavily about how easy it is, how it always works. Flash forward to Jacob dating Hannah, Cal's daughter. Things don't go very well when Cal suspects Jacob is implementing his old tricks on his daughter.
