From the small bit she heard, Angela could tell the barista had just clocked in. Skilled fingers moved from machine to machine, starting various drinks ordered by waiting customers. Angela knew she must be staring. She turned away, embarrassed.
She could still hear her quiet conversation over the general bustle of the coffee shop. The woman's voice was thick like honey but without the sweetness. It was like spice lingering in the back of your throat. Angela coughed.
