He was, of course, related to Idra through his father's line; a younger brother of Nemolis Drazhar, born to the scorned, unfortunate Chenelo Zhasan. That was the source of his claim to the Barizheise throne: he was the grandson of the previous Great Avar, Maru Sevrasched. He knew that his half-uncle took as his standard a prancing lion known as the Corat' Anmeir, Cruelty of the Sun, in partial tribute to his grandfather's Corat' Arhos.
It also might have been a nod to his Drazhadeise blood, which would have been bold if that was truly the intention, given that he had been disowned at fourteen.
