Summary
[AU] A misunderstood sentiment behind an “heir for a day” comment gets Daemon sent out of King's Landing. Realizing that his brother would never trust him fully or recognize him as his heir, Daemon decides to quit while he is ahead. He leaves for the Free Cities to start a new life, and as he does so, he takes his favourite golden cloak with him.
Fast forward five years. A new power is rising in the Stepstones, taking control of all the trade routes across the Narrow Sea. And Daemon Targaryen comes back to court once again, now the man of his own making with a spouse and children in tow.

Spoke's hands tighten on Wemmbu's shoulders and his head tips forward, hair falling across his face as he tries to hide how wrecked he already looks from just this. "Wemmbu, come on. This isn't funny."
"I didn't say it was funny," Wemmbu says, though the smirk pulling at his mouth says otherwise, and he finally lets one hand slide down to rest against the small of Spoke's back, not guiding him, just feeling the way his body moves. "Just saying it's cute how you're acting all tough and still fucking yourself on my thigh like it's the only thing keeping you alive right now."
Want and desperation can override pride sometimes, and Spoke finds that out the hard way.

The Drifter snarled in response and swung out at where he guessed the other’s torso would be. There was a tearing sound, a mix of cloth, meat, and something unnatural, before the hand on his neck released him. He immediately whirled, teeth bared and claws at the ready, only to find the Doorman merely adjusting his cuffs and affixing him with an unimpressed raise of his brow. There was no sign of damage on him, as though the wound that he had felt had never existed at all. Bastard.
The Drifter learns what it feels like to be hunted.
