Thus, he whispers not a prayer for protection, but a plea for forgiveness—for the scriptures have ridden the tides of history and translations and adaptations and yet there are only two absolutes: that Eve will always take a bite of the forbidden fruit, and that Jacob Palmer will always fall into Sebastian Wilder's bed.
Or: Jacob Palmer has an extreme case of religious guilt. This does not stop him from sleeping with Sebastian Wilder.

Jacob is normally very particular about his appearance, and goes out of his way to look absolutely fetching whenever he steps outside of the house. It is a point of contention at times, especially when it leads to him taking an excessively long amount to get dolled up. However, the prim and proper man, in the throes of pleasure, has no qualms with disheveled clothes, messy hair, tears streaming down his cheeks, drool dribbling out of his mouth…
And Sebastian loves it. So much so that he develops a bit of a fixation on it—sue him, he is just just a man, and a man of passion at that.
Or: Sebastian Wilder is really, really into the idea of defiling his boyfriend's image.
