Yelena sat atop her nook, blowing her cigarette smoke out of the window. The sun was just kissing the horizon, the crisp fall air stinging her face. Yelena had never seen scenery so beautifully lush, so perfectly framed like the paintings donning her walls. If this moment could last forever, she wouldn’t move an inch, just to savor the sight.
Then, her alarm began to blare. “Fuck,” she muttered softly, scrambling to press the top button and silence it.
