“Did you wake up in the middle of the night?” Haewon asked, her eyes closing again.
“No,” Lily said. “I think we’re balancing out the temperatures in close proximity.”
“Very scientific,” Haewon said with the quirk of an eyebrow. “Then we can share a room. With cuddling.”
“That’s so weird.”
Haewon opened her eyes. “What?”
“Like intentionally cuddling, I mean,” Lily said.
“What’s the difference?”
“Imagine if I were done with showering and I climbed into bed and hugged you,” Lily said. “Like, that’s… whoa. You know?”

“Oh yeah, I did hear people talking about that,” Jinsol says casually. “I kind of figured that she was just like. Going to make it official.”
Lily’s eyes bug out. “With who?”
Jinsol breaks out into laughter. Lily stares at her, confused.
“Oh,” Jinsol says. “Oh my god. You’re serious?”

“It’s like a high school thing in Western culture! Actually, it’s more of a thing that middle and elementary schoolers do, but it still means the same thing! Like you carve your initials with a heart into the tree together, because you want to last forever with them.”
Haewon furrows her brow. That actually does sound cute, but she can’t fathom that Lily’s silly post-it would have that much meaning laden into it when it looks so simple and insignificant.
“Okay,” Haewon says.
“Haewon-ah!” Lily says. She actually stomps her foot. Haewon melts. She loves it when Lily calls her that.
“Yes,” she says, softer.
The corner of Lily’s lips twitch like she’s sensed it, but she doesn’t back down.
