Henry rode beside him, and Hans could feel his eyes upon him. He moved flawlessly with his mare, back straight and chest puffed out. A natural on horseback, his thighs were strong and thick in the saddle. His stirrups glinted in the sunlight.
Hans suppressed the urge to reach across the void between their horses and interlock their fingers. Maybe it’d get easier someday. Or maybe it never would.

It feels so terribly selfish, for it should not be his right. His eyes grow big, reflecting Jayce in beautiful gold.
From his wrist, digging through the nebulous flesh, that which bound them is placed in Viktor’s palm. Their string of fate made manifest.

The girl beside Ryan stifled a giggle. “Ah, nope.” Ryan shrugged one shoulder, pushing himself from the bench to stand. “Not a freakishly big seven year old. Got it right the first time. I’m Ryan.”
