He steels himself and he can barely hear his own voice over the loud, rushing static in his head. “And what about Jojo?”
She flicks her eyes away and he knows, he knows right then and there, and he tries not to vomit or read too much into such a small gesture, but she isn't leaping at the opportunity to tell him Joseph’s fine. He can only handle a few seconds of silence before he's speaking again, the fear disrupting his tone and becoming all too apparent despite the force he puts behind it.

I don't think I've ever actually sobbed while reading a fanfic before, but this one literally forced me to cry so hard that I FELL ASLEEP. I cried myself to SLEEP reading this fic..
Every element is somehow overwhelmingly sad. Every breath they take is full of hurt, even when hidden under the blanket of comfort.
The fluff burned itself deep into the story, making me damn near forget the beginning by the end. The writing was beautiful, the pacing felt so gentle and real and breathtaking. The pain hurt. The joy was joyous.
The characters were real, it was them. And it both hurt me like nothing else and made me experience true happiness.
I feel empty now that it's over. I don't think I'll ever truly get over this fic. This was a concept I didn't know I needed, and that I'll forever mourn the end of -

I can't even properly put into words how this fic made me feel. The tension was incredible, the story was beautiful, the characters were written insanely well. I can't summarize all the feelings I felt for this fic very well, but here's my best try.
The characters had flaws, beautiful and *human* flaws.
The personalities all felt so real, felt so much like the characters. I found myself convinced that this was truly just a new story in itself, not connected to Steel Ball Run, but just a standalone universe. I cried, I cheered, I laughed and I mourned. The unpredictability of the story kept me on the edge of my seat, constantly wondering what would happen next.
I loved the insane journey this fic took me on. I am desperately clinging to the happiness I took from it, because no other fic has made me feel so alive.
I have a thousand thoughts on this fic that I would kill to share here, but a bookmark isn't the place to do so.
This was one of the most emotional adventures I've been on recently. It made the hurt of the finale feel less, even if just for a fleeting moment.
Read this fic, you'll thank me later.
