Summary
It’s in the middle of scanning the last bottle of green tea that Itadori properly looks up. Eye contact with him is a physical, unexpected shock, a crunch of imaginary static snapping through Megumi and leaving his hands twitching at his sides.
"Hey." Itadori blinks, wide and earnest. "Do I know you from somewhere?"
The tea sloshes backwards in the bottle he’s holding. Megumi focuses on this until his vision steadies.
"No," he says. "I don’t think so."
In the aftermath, Itadori loses his memories instead of his life. Megumi grieves nonetheless.

So, the first thing that happens is Castiel comes back.
~~~
"Right," Dean says eventually, gruffly. He looks down at his shoes. "I'm not gonna tell you how to live your life, man. It's—you know, yours. Do your thing, love who you love, whatever. I can't really stop you from loving me, if that's what you've decided to do, but I don't—I can't—"
"I know," Castiel murmurs, still just smiling a little, not looking heartbroken at all. "Don't worry about it, Dean, that's all I ask."
"So we're—" Dean risks a glance up, swallowing thickly. "We're good?"
Castiel hums. "We're good."
Summary
The thing is, he's read most all of the books that have been written about Captain America. At first he was desperate to understand why people were so strange about him, why it felt like the whole world was staring at him, waiting for him to do something amazing. Before the Chitauri invasion, no one had told him that a generation of Americans had grown up watching Captain America cartoons on Saturday morning. No one had said that the stupid propaganda reels he shot with the USO and later with the Commandos would be dissected by scores of academics for cultural meaning, that every part of his life and death already had a book written about it. No one had told him what kind of symbol Captain America had become, because the answer was too complicated, and had changed every decade or so anyway.
