Luca Haas is an excellent vampire-hunter-in-training. Has he slayed a vampire before? Not yet, but he knows everything about them. There is no weapon or object on earth that a human can use to kill a vampire except for a wooden stake. Luca himself has a couple of those wooden stakes stashed in his bag right now, because right now he is about to sneak into the house of one of the most notorious vampires of this generation and slay him.
Another vampire hunter came to this house recently and did slay a vampire, but not the one Luca is hunting. That other hunter left this vampire alive, for reasons Luca does not understand. He could have easily finished the job. But he didn’t. So that’s what Luca Haas is here to do.
