Summary
“Oh, Andrea.”
The name slipped out before Emily could stop it. Andrea’s breath caught, and Emily heard it. The sound was small. It was devastating - and Emily decided to dig the knife in deeper.
“That has always been the problem, hasn’t it?” Emily said. “You don’t know. You don’t know what you want until someone else has paid the price. You don’t know whether you want fashion or journalism, ambition or virtue, New York or elsewhere, me or the clean little story where leaving was brave because staying would have been complicated.” Andrea’s face went white. Emily kept going, her voice barely a whisper. “You arrive twenty years later with slightly better trousers and a sad little apology, and I am meant to do what, exactly? Admire your growth? Provide texture for your article? Reassure you that the woman you abandoned has done splendidly, actually, so no harm done?”
OR
Andrea leaves Emily, who has famously not got over a single thing in her life. Now Andrea's back with a vengeance - and Emily is taking the vengeance part quite literally. Minimal plot, quite a bit of smut from chapter two onward. For the love of God, please heed the tags.

Summary
"She thinks we're on a date," Emily said, when the woman had gone, around a spoonful of something with figs in it.
"We're two friends having dinner."
"At a candlelit corner table for two and a half hours."
"It's a small restaurant, they're all corner tables."
"You ordered me the exact side I would have ordered, if I'd been allowed to keep reading the menu instead of being informed I'd taken long enough."
"That's not a date, that's paying attention."
"Mm," said Emily, in a tone that conceded precisely nothing, and ate the fig dessert, and did not, Andy noted, ever actually get around to saying it wasn't.
--
More than a decade after Andy had left runway, a chance meeting at a bakery reunites her with Emily, freshly divorced and pregnant with her second child. What follows is, of course, a love story.

Summary
Emily is her friend. Emily is - as far as Andy knows, and she thinks she knows more than enough - absolutely straight. Emily has two children and an important job and little to no spare capacity for anything else.
Andy should really know better than this.
Or: Andy, Emily, and everything we didn't see in Not Going Anywhere.

Summary
If you had told Daphne Kluger a month ago that she’d be dating a woman for three months, she’d call you a liar. First of all, she could never date. Period. Dating meant peeling away the layers of pristine perfect persona she had carefully created over the years. And behind those layers, there laid ugliness. And Daphne didn’t do ugly, no, not even a little bit. Then there’s the “woman” part of the equation. She won’t even go there. Can’t think about it without her palms getting sweaty and her face flushing six shades brighter. And that is exactly why she tries not to think about them, about women. Granted, everything you run away from eventually comes back to you. So, the comment happened. And everything else that came with it.
