In other worlds, Josh returns Neku to Shibuya, giving the city - and himself - a chance to be something new. In this timeline, Neku’s belief in Joshua makes him angry, and he’s determined to break it down, to prove that Neku was wrong to trust him, to destroy every last shred of faith in Joshua’s capacity to be redeemed.
Joshua still intends to die. But first he must convince the last person in this world who still wants him to live that he deserves that death.

She drops all pretense and meets Zosia's eyes. However this all is going to end, it will hurt. Carol is quite suddenly sure of it. In the meantime, why not make it a little easier on herself, and on the person who against all odds is still here with her?
