“Hey,” Robin said softly, her voice coming closer than she expected.
Probably on her knees.
Nancy decided to ignore her.
“Hey, I know you’re awake. Your thoughts are too loud and your breathing is too quiet.”
Nancy growled lowly and opened her eyes. Scowled a little at Robin. “Yes?”
“Why don’t you go to bed?”
“That’s what I’m trying to do.” She was very tired, just couldn’t manage to sleep.
“No, I mean in your bedroom. You would probably be a lot more comfortable up there, right?”

Nancy waves her hand nonchalantly in the air, “We’ve been through Indiana winters our entire life. We can navigate a little snow.”
“Maybe you can but need I remind you that I only got my license this past summer?”
“Relax, Robbie. Nothing’s going to happen to us.”
Robin stares her down, eyes narrowing. After some tense silence, Robin says, “Promise me we’ll stop if it gets bad.”
Nancy nods, noncommittally.
Robin lifts her hand and sticks her pinky out. Nancy rolls her eyes and scoffs.
“Promise me,” Robin repeats. “Say ‘I promise Robin.’”
Nancy hooks her pinky with Robin and says, a little mockingly, “I promise Robin.”
or: driving home for winter break, nancy does everything in her power to keep them from staying the night somewhere. until a big snow storm ruins those plans and threatens to uncover what nancy's been keeping from robin for months.

Mira gasped – a sharp inhale, like she’d touched a live wire. “Rumi,” she said, her voice a raising alarm, “What did you —”
But her words seemed caught in her throat and her eyes zeroed in on Rumi like a missile.
Before Rumi could utter a word she suddenly felt Mira’s adrenaline spike through her veins, wild and electric. It tasted like reckless abandon and a ferocious protectiveness.
Beside her, Zoey stumbled back, pressing a hand to her temple. “Umm guys, why can I FEEL you?” Zoey demanded through gritted teeth. “This is not a group chat I signed up for!”OR

The fur feels the way it always had beneath her fingers. Pressed down over the years, but still soft. Revered in a way. Never played with because playing with it would ruin it. Would make it ugly and broken which are all the things Mi-yeong was not.
It doesn't feel very soft when she throws it.
Some part of her is almost disappointed by the lack of a reaction. It doesn't shatter like a plate. Doesn't explode into a load of stuffing. It just plops onto the ground next to her balcony door. Lifeless eyes pointed towards the carpet.
Something about it makes her feel worse.
