Summary
Tony actively avoided spending Christmas in New York. There was something about the wintery weather there that made the whole ordeal even harder to bear. First snow of the year was usually his prompt to go back to Malibu and hunker down.
He wanted something different this year. It may well be his last Christmas. He wanted it to be special in his own way. He cast his mind back to the palladium poisoning and his birthday party. That's not what he had in mind this time. What he really wanted to experience was a family Christmas. A low-key affair. Something that other people take for granted.Tony is trying to process grief for his parents at the most difficult time of the year. What can possibly go wrong?

Summary
Tony has been dealing with heart problems in some shape or form for a long time now, and it never crossed his mind that it would render him unfit for duty. After all, the suit was there. However, the combination of worsening heart function and PTSD was rapidly taking Tony to the edge of what he could compensate for with his technology. Tony tried to avoid any potential triggers. It became increasingly difficult as even the lightest reminder of his past traumas was sufficient to set him off. He had become irritable and prone to angry outbursts. Jarvis and Dummy had felt the brunt of it on account of the fact that he spent most of the time in his lab, isolating himself from the world. He felt depression slowly creeping in. He hadn't felt so low since he'd been convinced that he was going to die from palladium poisoning.
This series explores in detail Tony's struggles with worsening heart condition and PTSD. He tries to cope alone but eventually is forced to accept help. Sometimes from unexpected sources.

Tony couldn’t honestly remember how long it had been like this. Probably since the day he’d called T’Challa and offered his help. At first it had just been compulsive self-denial: you can’t eat until you’ve drafted your opening remarks, until you’ve finished your research, until you’ve rewritten every last colon and comma and apostrophe in those Accords so that everyone can come home.
Those goals had been realistic. Lately, they’d become impossible. Until everyone forgives you. Until you forgive yourself. Until you make up for every bad thing you’ve ever caused.
He was fine. He was coasting in a dangerous place, but he was fine. He wasn't taking it too far - just far enough.

Summary
After Tony collapses right in front of Steve after two days straight of working and fighting, Peter tells Steve that he's kind of a jerk. That's surprising to hear coming from the normally sweet kid that works with Tony in the lab, but also completely disconcerting, because what comes along with that statement is a disappointed look and tone. "He's not superhuman you know. What I want to know is why you seem to want to take good care of everyone else, even people not on your team, but not him. It's like he's the only person on the planet you don't care about."
Steve can't say that Peter is wrong. He messed up, and now he needs to fix it, for Tony, and for the team.
OR
Steve realizes some things about Tony that he hadn't before. Steve's POV, minor angst, minor fluff, and team as family. Steve is not a bad guy in this fic.
