Hifumi’s used to drinking; he has to do so every night he works, and it’s become an integral part of his host persona. That doesn’t change when he steps out of the jacket. He likes liquor and the way it loosens his grip on his body, fogs his mind so he can’t think so deeply. And it kills time.
When Doppo comes home early and finds him drunk, he panics, worried for him. And Hifumi spirals, the booze and fear of upsetting Doppo drawing him back into the traumatized headspace of his youth.

The quiet would’ve been pleasant if Doppo weren’t scrambling to get ready for work. Five missed alarms send him flying out of bed, slamming his head on the headboard and cracking his phone screen in the tumble. “Goddammit…!” His temper simmers, but he can’t afford to explode when he’s racing against the clock. Tap, tap, tap. Still functional. He should be able to do his job with it. He probably won’t get fired. More importantly, where is his good shirt? And where the hell is his briefcase? Every morning has its hurdles, but each hurdle has been taking ten times longer to hop over as of late.
By some miracle, he finds his briefcase with the contents intact. He dresses himself without tearing a sleeve or ripping off a button. At this rate, he should be able to make it to the 6:45 train, but when has his commute ever gone smoothly? As he runs out of his room, he rushes by the dining table and—
—it’s empty.
Hifumi and Doppo are joined at the hip until, well, they're not.
