Then he did something Simon wouldn't have expected. He kissed him. A singular kiss planted right on the top of his head, a parting gift as he walked out the door letting it click shut behind him.
The softness of the action lingered with him as he watched Grace walk down to his classroom. A tender warmth radiating from the top of his skull, comforting him down to his bones. Simon hadn't felt this way in an achingly long time.

Ryland still works as a middle school physical science teacher at the same school he’s been at for years. Something is different now though. A new life science teacher has begun working at the school this semester. With the craze of a new fall term, Ryland doesn’t get to introduce himself till a month after the new guy started teaching. Finally, he manages to make his way to the classroom at the end of the hall where he finds Dr. Simon Forster.

Summary
A charged silence hung between them, the only sound being that of Will sketching. Mike had a tendency to fumble through moments like this, finding comfort in little quips to shift the vibe. It's expected of him, really, he can't help himself.
Mike's suggestion this time, however, was completely unexpected. Before Mike could even decipher it, the thought had reached his lips and just tumbled out.
"You'd look good as Luke Skywalker."

Mike asks Will to dress up as Luke Skywalker for Halloween for totally normal reasons that aren't linked to Mike's huge gay crush on Mark Hamill—or his huge gay crush on Will, but he doesn't need to know that yet.

“It’s a good thing,” Will reassures, and his thumb swipes over Mike’s cheek. Mike thinks he might explode. “It means you’re nice to look at. Artists would love you.”
Mike’s heart feels like it’s about to burst out of his chest. Will is still looking at him, and he swallows, throat dry. “Yeah?”
Will’s own face reddens, like he’d just thought about what he said. “Yeah,” he answers, and Mike grins.Living in a shared apartment with Will is all Mike could ask for, except for the part where he keeps thinking about kissing Will in the middle of their kitchen.
