“Why haven’t we kissed yet?”
The words hang heavy between them. The silence stretches, only the soft sound of rain in the background, and Caitlyn closes her eyes, still bracing for rejection. She loosens her grip, moving to pull back just slightly, wanting to give Vi some space.
But before Caitlyn can lean away, Vi’s hand shoots up to her waist, pulling her back against her body. Caitlyn lets go of Vi’s chin, their faces aligning once more, lips just a breath away from each other.
“You tell me, sheriff,” Vi whispers, her mouth moving against the words, their lips brushing together once more—each word making the tension between them grow.
Caitlyn Kiramman was known for her endless patience.
At that moment, however, all of it was gone.

“This was your idea,” Caitlyn hums lowly, “Surely you can tell me what you’d like me to do.”
She sure could. But Vi had really, really hoped she could get out of saying it outright. “I think you know exactly what you want to do.”
“Not me,” Caitlyn squeezes her thigh gently, looks at her with a gaze that is full of all the heat in this room, sucked in with one slow, fluttery blink. “It’s all for you, darling.”
Vi scoffs- wheezes, more like. “And you’re getting nothing out of this?”
Caitlyn reddens. It always starts near her nose to wrap around her cheeks, ending at her ears in a trackable gradient. It’s a point for Vi in what has so far been a very unbalanced game.
“Don’t deflect,” Caitlyn deflects, squeezing her harder, the leather gloves pinching into the fat of her thighs, “I’m rather curious to hear what you wanted me to do with these.”
The shooting gloves stay on.

"I know that this is their job, but-" Caitlyn grimaced at the idea. "- I wouldn't be comfortable with a stranger... living with me and following me around."
There was barely any pause before Vi opened her mouth. She could hear part of her brain screaming 'no, stop, bad idea, shut the fuck up dipshit' but she ignored it like she always had.
"You don't have to. You know- hire a stranger."
Caitlyn looked at her quizzically. Am I really about to say this?
"I can be your blood bag, if you want."

Not the curse it once was- by the 21st century, vampirism had mutated into an inconvenient infection.
Due to their hunger being volatile and, if unsated, potentially fatal for the infected, vampires usually hired a professional "blood bag" to be by their side 24/7 during the months- sometimes years- it took for the illness to pass.
So when Caitlyn catches it, Vi doesn't hesitate to take up the role. Anything to help her best friend until she recovers.
