In your mind, it had sounded romantic and breath-taking—a passionate gesture Simeon would surely be taken with. But saying it out loud, you now realize how potentially possessive it may sound. “And…doing so means only the person who casts the spell can ever remove it…”
Simeon’s eyes, which had been locked onto yours during the explanation, drop back down to the open box. “There’s two here. Which means…” Blinking owlishly down at the pair, the fact that one adorns a jewel with his birthstone, and the other yours, makes even more sense now. When your gazes meet once more, there’s a range of rising emotion in the angel’s expression. “I’ll attach yours, and you’ll attach mine?”
“That’s the idea,” you admit sheepishly.
