The world feels like it’s tilting. Is it tilting? Steve isn’t actually in the world right now, so maybe this one is different. Maybe it tilts. The burning sensation from where the bats took a chunk out of him is flooding his body, his lungs are burning, his face, his—his eyes are burning, and his face is wet.
“Nance! Nance—Guys, find a radio or something, Robin, she likes—!”
Steve looks up. Robin isn’t moving.
“Robin?”
She’s looking straight at him, but her eyes are wrong. They’re wrong. Overall, she’s had a wonderful experience so far; full of light, learning, and friendship. Katara is positive she wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, especially because of how it brought Aang into her life. But still—
She whirls, too fast, and a gate catches the curve of her shoulder blade. Katara trips over her own foot, crying out in pain, and falls off of the platform, landing solidly onto her back with an oomph!
“Ow,” she whines, unwittingly, as Aang dashes to her in a panic.
It’d be nice to be good at this— actual airbending.

Lin blacks out for a second. Then she has several thoughts in quick succession; the first is fuck. The second is that she’s inexpressibly glad they are in her office and not in the bullpen. The third is that she needs to say something now before Mako flees and never speaks to her again. A look of slow, dawning horror is spreading across his face, and Lin scrambles to say something that will end this torment for both of them.
