Summary
In the small, rural town of Paradise, California, the Jaegerists are law, maintaining order and protecting the people with iron and blood. “Listen, I don’t mean to alarm you,” Nanaba started, after she’d shown Mikasa to her classroom and how to log in to her computer. “But you really do need to watch out for Jaeger. I tried to warn Petra but she didn’t take me seriously. And now…” she trailed off, for effect or out of genuine emotion, Mikasa couldn’t tell. “Well, she’s on bedrest for the rest of her pregnancy.”
Mikasa looked up from her assigned computer. “What exactly is this kid’s problem?” While she waited for Nanaba’s answer, she looked down at the attendance sheet that had been printed out for her, each name followed by a grainy grayscale portrait. Even from the small photo, she could tell Eren Jaeger was good-looking, harsh and sharp in the way of boys who were known to cause trouble. The exact kind that she had been into, when she’d been in high school. Unwillingly, her eyes flicked over to his birth date.
He was eighteen.

On a rain-soaked night, Eren Yeager stopped to help a stranger with a flat tire.
He didn't know she was Mikasa Ackerman, chairwoman of Hizuru Industries, one of the most powerful women in the country. He didn't know she would remember his name. He didn't know she would never forget him.
Eren tells himself that Mikasa's possessiveness is just love in its purest form. That her constant texts, her jealousy, her need to control are only proof that he matters. That the fear curling in his stomach when she smiles too calmly is nothing. But Mikasa has never known love before, and she refuses to lose the one person who showed her kindness in the rain.
He was the one who stopped to help her.
