    Spike takes a drink and focuses hard on the slight burn of whiskey on his tongue. Buffy runs her thumb over the fresh holes in Spike's jeans. Tonight he’ll peel himself out of them and wrap his body around hers and hopefully by then her hand will have stopped shaking. Neither of them speak.
    “So.” Hank looks back and forth between Spike and Buffy like he's performing an inspection they're probably not going to pass. “Are you still getting the checks I send on your birthday?”
