It’s weird. To be taken care of. To have someone watching over you. To be cherished just for the sake of it.
Why would someone do that? When my purpose is already accomplished, and I don’t matter anymore, why would someone look after me? Why would someone hold me dear? Why would he hold me dear?

Summary
A demon. That’s what they saw him as, because that’s what he ate.
Since he decided to do whatever it took to reach his brother as a Hashira, he got used to them. The faces. The faces of disgust, of anger, of fear. If he got lucky, he’d get indifference. One reaps what he sows, or so they say.
So why is he getting a smile?
He’s been mean to people, so people have been mean to him. He gets into fights with other members of the Corps. He’s always angry and always expects anger.
So why is he getting kindness?
It should be recomforting, experiencing such a thing after so long, but it isn’t. It’s unsettling. It’s not what it’s meant to be.
Genya glares, eyes unnaturally yellow. Tanjiro smiles innocently.
“What the hell are you doing here?”

“Pretty much. Human bodies are weird.”
“Weird weird weird,” Rocky mutters, rolling back out of my arms. “Glad Grace okay.”
I nod, not feeling okay in the slightest. “Totally okay. I mean, how could I not be? I’ve got a spaceship, all the Taumoeba I can eat, and you. What else could I need?”
Last night's dream isn’t fading like my dreams usually do after I wake up. I’m not sure I even want it to. I can’t stop hearing the sounds my brain imagined Rocky would make as I sank my fingers knuckle-deep inside of him, as he praised me for making him feel so good–

Eddie frowned. "So basically, we'd be boyfriends, without benefits?"
"Yes!" Buck snapped his fingers. "Like platonic boyfriends! We'd get all the benefits of a relationship and none of the heartbreak."
And maybe Eddie had finally lost his mind, or maybe it was from all the alcohol clouding his judgment, but the idea of it didn't sound half as crazy as it should have.
