Summary
"I want- Oh, malysh…" Ilya's voice cracks and Shane can't force himself to look up and watch his fiance cry because of him. He shakes his head against his knees, "I can't—" he gasps out, "I can't— I don't want- I don't feel good—" he doesn't even know what he's saying at this point, words slipping through his tongue without any control as he lets out a cracked sob, all the pain from the past few months bearing down on him so hard it feels like his shoulders and back might break. He feels a strong pair of arms wrap around him, warm and comforting.
Or, Shane has a much worse time after the whole fan mail situation.Bookmarked by anna8124271

Summary
"Mackieeee," he slurred around the gauze, delighted, muffled, trying to sit up and getting tangled in the blanket. He turned to the nurse beside him with the urgent air of a man sharing critical information. "Thas him. Thas — d'you see. Thas my boyfriend. I told you 'bout him."
OR: Will gets his wisdom teeth out right before Christmas, and a very loopy, very devoted recovery lands squarely in the hands of his endlessly patient boyfriend.

Summary
Rozanov cocked his head. “You speak Russian? Or just the curse words?”
“Yes, I speak Russian,” he snapped, defensive and angry. He knew that it had been a mistake to even try to be friendly with Rozanov. “Why? Do I not look Russian to you?” He scoffed.
“No, not really,” Rozanov said. Some of his teammates laughed, although they mostly looked surprised that Shane was speaking to them at all. Rozanov didn’t laugh, though. “Are you Russian?”
“Go fuck yourself.”

Despite an inauspicious start, when Russia’s Ilya Rozanov learns that Canada’s Shane Hollander is fluent in Russian at their first World Junior Championships tournament, it changes everything and sets them on a different course. Instead of being branded as rivals from the very beginning, Ilya and Shane start off as friends.
And, after all, a little friendly rivalry never hurt anyone, did it?

Summary
For as long as Macklin celebrini could remember, his life orbited around hockey. Around the discipline that came with it, the strain he felt build with every bad game, but also the sincere joy he felt every time he stepped out on the ice. It was always there, his training and passion carving the way for him to lead his team to victory. He knew this to be true from the time he first picked up a stick, to his time at Boston University, and now on the San Jose Sharks.
But he couldn’t shake the deep seated feeling that something wasn’t right, his shoulders shook a little more with every game, his hands felt like they clenched into permanent fists. With every game came more issues, more things he did wrong, more passes he didn’t make, and more phone calls from the one person he wants to make proud, picking out every single problem with his gameplay.
Rick Celebrini had always been this way, couch first, father dead last. And that fact never made it not sting when Macklin was so desperately seeking his father’s approval, just to fall short every single time. And it hurt, it began to chip away at his body, corroding the bone beneath his flesh, shaping his mindset for the next game that he knew would never be better.
