Summary
On the first day of the Fall semester, Richie walked into the library to kill some time-maybe go bother his unsuspecting friend Ben who was working the desk-only to stop abruptly when he noticed the pair sitting at the far table. The prettiest guy he’d ever seen ever was laughing (probably at some dumb joke) and making gestures at, of all people, Bill Denbrough. (That guy had been Richie's lab partner last semester and they’d barely spoken a word to each other (read: Richie talked his ear off while the guy just nodded along, never saying anything)).
Upon closer inspection (aka: Richie found a seat a few tables away and watched them like a hawk) the two weren’t just making random hand gestures to each other; they were using sign language. He’d watched in awe that first day (and every day after), not understanding a single conversation but finding himself interested in the language anyway.

Summary
Ryland Grace never considered himself to be the best guy to ask about gender. Sure, he lived in San Francisco, and he was the cool teacher, always priding himself in being understanding and making his class safe space for all of his students, including the queer kids who needed it. He’s better versed on the topic than the average cisgender man, probably, but he’s not claiming to be an expert.
Even so, he was hoping that’d translate into being more knowledgeable about it than an alien with no concept of gender sixteen light years away from Earth was, but there were a lot of things Adrian one-upped him on.

After the Taumoeba leak, after I decided to die after all and turned my ship around to save Rocky, after Rocky's frantic calculations about food supplies, Taumoeba multiplication rates, and human caloric intake needs, after we realized that with some rationing and luck I would make it, but that we were headed toward the unknown territory of trying to rapid-prototype me a life support system and synthetic food supply on an inhospitable planet: after all of that, after everything, I shouldn't have been surprised that it only took a few months on board the Hail Mary for things to get weird.

Summary
The man looks like he’s been through a meat grinder. Thick blood is slick in every nook and cranny. In his hair, his clothes, and some of it is still dripping out of his mouth. A mouth with… a tear in it and visible sharp teeth.
When Grace thinks about it, it’s unlikely he’s human. Earth is so far from here. No, this person is some kind of parallel evolution thing. But the building blocks of the origin of the Big Bang are the same after all, so it’s not impossible that something might evolve, independently of humanity that looks just as human all the way out here.
Regardless, it’s nice to know there is something in this corner of the universe that at least looks familiar.
//We go home now, question? Rocky would like to go home and clean ship.//
“Yeah, let’s go,” Grace nods. “Help me carry him in.”

Grace coughed and stuttered, heat flooding his face as his cheeks burned bright red.
“Uh,” Grace muttered dumbly, covering his face with his hands. “You can see that?” Grace whispered.
Or Grace turned The Hail Mary around to save Rocky and Erid, but when they reunite Rocky can tell something is off with Grace.
