The metal lock on the door broke with a sound like bone cracking, and the doors swung open, the wood slamming against the stone brick. Backlit from the flames burning behind him, a tall, broad figure emerged into view.
The man stood at at least 6 feet, his greasy hair slicked back. Several of his teeth were replaced with bejeweled golden ones, his smile crooked and messy. He wore layers of leather robes, accented with heavy furs that Gottard could only assume belonged to beasts 10 times his size.
===King Gottard, ruler of the great city-state of Fafnin, finds his palace in flames and his guards massacred. And here, before him, stands a barbarous warlord, who claims he's made some great offense to him. Gottard cannot remember ever seeing him before in his life.
