Summary
Doctor Stanford F. Pines and his assistant Fiddleford H. McGucket have been officially declared missing, though whispers among the townsfolk say they should be presumed dead. Their lab is now vital evidence in the investigation of their disappearances, but no leads to their whereabouts have been made. Backupsmore wants answers, as the research they invested their grant money into cannot be accessed until Dr. Pines is found, dead or alive. Stanley Pines, upon receiving the news, races up to Gravity Falls, Oregon, in pursuit of finding his brother and finds himself in a mystery bigger than a field of dying stars exploding.

“You know, Stanley, this will be our first birthday together since I’ve come back home.”
“Pfft!” Stan waved him off. “First since you got home. How about first since we were seventeen?”
Ford grimaced, watching Fiddleford and Stanley’s exchange as they reached across him to repeat the rotation. “Well, two things can be true, I suppose.”
“Oh, shit, I ain’t celebrated with anyone since . . .” He stopped, wrinkling his brow in thought. “Since, uh . . .”
“Don’t make me sad, Stanley.”
“I’m making myself sad!” Stan laughed, taking another hit before waving it off. “Oh, whatever. Long fucking time is the point.”
“Oh, it’s been a long time for me, too.” Stanford sighed, pondering the hash as it made its way to him . . . “As for celebrating, well, I haven’t had a good celebration in . . .”
Fiddleford felt his face grow hot when Stanford looked down at him, crooked smile forming when Ford grew one of his own and the smoke trickled out. He remembered that night, too. “A long, long time.”
. . . “Well, don’t you boys reckon we oughta fix that?”
