Two years ago, Team Plasma leader Ghetsis and his son, N, rocked the nation with their polarizing statements about people’s oppression of Pokémon. No one knew much about this mysterious duo, nor what happened to them following a puzzling earthquake and the appearance of their home—the monstrous castle in Unova’s north end.
In the time since, despite several landslides and the castle’s fragile foundations, Unova’s expert archivists have meticulously searched the castle, documenting their findings for the purposes of historical preservation. For a time, they were the only ones allowed to step foot in it.

Ghetsis’s castle looks exactly and nothing like it used to.
The stench of gasoline hangs thick and heavy in the air, emanating from the numerous buckets hanging off Anthea and Concordia’s arms as they slowly make their way in. Rubble crunches underfoot, and years-old dust drifts in the air, disturbed by their footsteps. The castle is a ghost filled with ghosts—of their past; of icy, appraising stares; of the pained cries of Pokémon dumped at their feet; of the warmth and love that they shared with each other and their little brother, just enough to keep their spirits from breaking.

It took me many days, but I tried to notate the violin part as much as I could, and I obtained the music for the koto part after paying the composer handsomely. She quite appreciated it.”
Herlock stares at him, speechless.

“Sometimes, I wish he was a worse person,” Ilya admits one night, while he and Yuna are doing the dishes. Shane and Ilya had come over for chicken parmesan, and it had been a lovely dinner, right up until David, clearing the plates, mentioned that he had met a guy at the store the other day who was a big fan of Shane’s, had a kid who idolized him.
David asked if Shane could sign a piece of merchandise for him, maybe record a video. Shane said yes, because he had a rule, about doing things for child fans. Now, Shane was off shooting a video while Ilya did the dishes, and Ilya already knew the way it would require Shane to drag his public face up from the depths of his stomach, the work it would take him to shed it afterwards, the way it would taint this evening.
