What if this time around, it wasn't just Junko who was the mastermind of the killing game? What if she had somebody by her side, a friend one could even say? And what if that person was Byakuya?
This time around, Byakuya is... different- he is more cruel and manipulative. He is more like Junko. So, when Junko told him about the idea of the killing game, he loved it. He even made some slight changes to it, changes that would make the game much more... entertaining. For him, that was. For his classmates... anything but.
But how would this change things? Who will die this time? Who will survive instead? And will Byakuya ever change? Or will he go even further? Will he become one with despair? And what does that mean for everybody else?

Summary
What does it mean to be the Ultimate Hope?
Is it only hope on the big scale? That the world is not so dark and depressing and destructive as the villain in front of you says it is? That you can win, even when everything else says that you can’t? That maybe it is better to live your life, even afraid, than it is to keep yourself sequestered away, alone?
Does it not also mean hope on the small scale?
Or: Makoto sacrifices himself in the hope that the other survivors might be able to help Junko. It remains to be seen whether this will actually succeed.
