Summary
Summer is coming to an end, and Megumi Fushiguro feels as though he has been left behind with it.
In an apartment far too quiet, beside a father whose words wound far more than they comfort, the days pass and blur together until they become indistinguishable.
Something that has been festering for as long as he can remember slowly begins to resurface. His body grows weaker and feels less and less like his own. His thoughts become harder to silence, drowning the little resolve that had managed to keep him afloat until now.
And yet, despite all his efforts to disappear, certain eyes continue to linger on him.
Those of a boy with a smile far too bright. Those of a teacher who seems to see more than he should. And those of people he never learned how to let in.Some scars have been there all along, hidden beneath the surface.
But some people simply refuse to look away.
Or
Megumi Fushiguro has spent his entire life learning how to make himself forgettable. Unfortunately for him, it seems it's already too late to pretend he hasn't caught the attention of a certain pink-haired boy.

La journée est pleine de vie, à l’image d’un bel été qui bat son plein. Toute la ville semble en plein mouvement. Les plus jeunes hurlent à tue-tête sous les réprimandes sans convictions de leurs parents, les chiens aboient, les oiseaux chantent les mêmes mélodies et accompagnent les chansonnettes légères des artistes amateurs des rues et les bavardages enthousiastes autour des piques-niques dans les parcs, et alors tout le monde semble partager une bonne humeur commune.
Pourtant Megumi à l’impression qu’aucune vie ne circule à l'intérieur de l’appartement.
Il est allongé misérablement, sur le vieux canapé au cuir usé par le temps et la négligence, les yeux verts fixés au modeste plafond taché de suie et de graisse, il semble que toute trace d’existence est mise en pause à cet instant, dans ce salon. Peu importe l'animation, il règne ici une atmosphère de solitude qui ne peut être allégée par aucunes paroles, aucunes chansons et aucunes présences.

It began in the late 1800s—or at least, that was when documents discussing it were first discovered—and it wasn't uncommon to find that a bond had been broken. For the most part, this was due to the untimely death of one half, often before they had even crossed paths; an outcome that seemed, in some inexplicable way, even more tragic than meeting and losing each other afterward.
But other times, a bond was broken because of the rejection of the other half. If this happened, it was said to be a pain that was unimaginable and many would prefer to have had their bond broken through death than through the emotional torture it brought."

Megumi’s face pressed against the pillow, and he didn’t even try to move. He felt hollow. Like everything had been scraped out from the inside, but the shell of him still had to stand up and pretend like he was a person. He wanted to be angry. He wanted to hate him. For leaving. For not letting him stay. For shutting the door and making him feel like a child. For making him feel discarded.
But he couldn’t hate him. He loved him. Still. He didn’t know how to stop. Five months wasn’t forever, but it was every single day of his summer. It was falling asleep with someone’s hand in his hair. It was fingers on his neck, and mouths pressed to his jaw, and whispered praise that felt like sunlight. It was feeling, finally, like he was someone worth wanting.

Yuji never expected to care this much. Not about a boy like Megumi. Not like this.(or: megumi is in a band and gets partnered with yuji, one of the most popular guys in school, for creative writing. their friendship goes a little beyond working on their assignments)

Summary
The Fushiguros has been hiding from the Zenin family ever since Toji defected after Megumi was born. Years later, Megumi finds it hard to open up to anyone anymore besides his dad and sister. Yet, Yuuji, a customer at his dad's bar wants seems determined to know him anyway.
The unnamed relationship between Megumi and Yuuji only grows stronger over the time they know each other, even while the Zenin family begins to search in earnest for the Fushiuros.
