"And it's just so sad because he talks to everyone but you."
Harry frowned, he had tried to convince himself that it was just his imagination that Draco talked to everyone else and intentionally ignored him. But before he could say anything more, Draco was at their table, "this is Clement," he said, gesturing to the attractive man on his arm before sitting down next to Hermione and immediately striking up a conversation with her.
"It's because he likes you," Blaise said, leaning in closer so Harry could hear him over the noise.
Harry rolled his eyes, "Yeah, right." Draco came with a different date every week, he wasn't interested in Harry.
Blaise shrugged, "Suit yourself but I'm telling you, Potter, that boy's been obsessed with you for years."

“It’s just annoying,” Draco continued as he and Harry packed up for the night. “Literally every single party or brunch, I am hounded about when I’ll start dating someone.” He slammed his desk drawer closed, “I’m a bloody auror! I haven’t got time to date anyone,” he groaned. “And now I have this party tonight and I just know-”
“I’ll go with you,” Harry offered.
He broke off and stared at the other man. “What?”
“Yeah,” Harry said with a shrug, “I’ll go and be your pretend boyfriend, it would be easy to fake that we’re dating since we already know everything about each other.”
“But,” he started, tilting his head at the other man, “Then people will think we’re dating.”
“I thought that was the point?”
He stared at Harry, waiting for it to click. When no click was forthcoming he said “but then people would think you’re dating me.”
“Am I missing something here?”
He rolled his eyes, “I don’t think you quite understand what dating me entails.”
“Ah, need to be pampered, darling? Wined and dined? Roses on Tuesday and dinner on Friday nights? I could bring you coffee in the morning-”
“I- What?” Draco spluttered.

Healer Kenner, a stern looking woman who reminded Harry very much of Professor McGonagall, ran diagnostic test after diagnostic test and then finally said, “Well, you’re bonded.”
“What?” Harry yelped.
Malfoy groaned, “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”
“Language, Auror Malfoy,” she tsked.
“Apologies.”
With a short nod, she continued, “The good news is that most of your discomfort can be alleviated by simple physical contact.”
“And the bad news?” Harry asked wryly.
“There’s nothing we can do to break the bond.”
“What?” Malfoy spat.
“Surely, there’s something-” Harry started.
She shook her head, “I’m afraid not. But it’s not permanent,” Healer Kenner added. “It’ll only last a month.”
“A month?!” Harry asked incredulously.
“Well it’s certainly better than forever,” Malfoy snarked, rubbing his hands over his face.
Harry wondered if Malfoy’s head hurt as much as his did. He certainly hoped so.

If someone had cornered 15 year-old Draco and tried to convince him that, in a decade’s time, he would be residing in a flat in Muggle West London, working part-time as a florist, and tending to an aloof but affectionate cat that he would without a doubt lay his life on the line for, he would have guffawed, called them a befitting slur and then wandered off, still laughing maniacally.
Post-Hogwarts, Muggle London. Draco adopts a cat. Harry is … well, he’s Harry Potter, Saviour of the Wizarding World. He’s a bit bored, though, all things considered.
