The only person dumber than Colt for coming back to work was Jody, who had somehow decided to pointedly torture the guy with a recent history of catastrophic spinal injury. Because she was pissed, and petty, and she could.
She hadn't ever wanted him hurt like this.

Eddie shakes his head. "No, Buck, it's my fault. If I had been awake when they took you—"
"Eddie. We were just in a car crash, you wouldn't have been able to do anything to stop them."
"No!" he says forcefully. "You don't get it. If I had been awake, they never would have come at all."
Buck's face flickers through a range of emotions. "What?"
"Don't look at me like that," Eddie snaps. He feels like his heart has jumped straight from his chest. "I'm not crazy."

"What are you doing here, Buck?"
"Repayment," Buck smiles, walking through the threshold of the house tossing the bag down near the entry way, "you have one week until re-certification, and I need a babysitter," he explains, gesturing to the child who was already beginning to stir in his arms.
Eddie hopes his face looks as puzzled as he feels, "Daycare?"
"Closed for some reason, got an email about it haven't read it yet" Buck answers while passing Theo into the other man's arms, "you have nothing better to do once you drop Chris off at school, you can't work, so take Theo out have some fun get some fresh air."

Summary
Deep down, he knows he bears some responsibility. He knows the lawsuit was a step too far, but he didn’t know what else he was supposed to do. Bobby refused to let him back or at least hear him out, and no one else was willing to listen. His medical bills and rent were beginning to stack up, and his department disability pay had stopped when they declared him fit for active duty.
He needed his job, his family.
Now, he has neither.
He has an empty, cold apartment with sparse furniture, rusty, leaky pipes, and a singular window that struggles to keep out the cool night air. His neighbors blare music at all hours of the day. The cold aggravates his leg, the muscles tense beneath his skin, and the music stops him from sleeping — so do the nightmares. Buck’s fridge has been empty for days.
Despite the music that pulses through his apartment, the walls shaking, the silence all but swallows him. It consumes him, chokes him, and he lets it.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Eddie called from over his shoulder, not even looking at Buck as he continued towards the kitchen.
“Err… sitting down on the couch?” Buck replied, unsure of what the correct answer was.
“Wrong” Eddie replied flatly from the kitchen, now completely out of the room and out view altogether.
“Wrong?” Buck queried, now awkwardly frozen mid-sitting motion.
“Wrong” Eddie reaffirmed, as he emerged from the kitchen with a glass of water and a box of painkillers.
“What’s wrong with the couch?” Buck asked limply, as he awkwardly sunk into the couch.
“You can’t get comfortable on that thing, you always toss and turn on there and then you get cranky when you don’t get enough sleep” Eddie replied.OR
Buck allows Eddie to take care of him when his chronic back pain flares up. Buck realizes that he likes being taken care of by Eddie. Buck decides that he wants Eddie to continue taking care of him. Buck may or may not lie about his back pain to trick Eddie in to caring for him. Buck may or may not be completely unhinged, I'll let you decide.

For the first time in days, his mind freezes like a deer in headlights. The words get caught on his tongue. And as his eyes trace every inch of himself back in the mirror, he can see the realization in the eyes staring back. In the eyebrows furrowed downward. In the frown that seemed to be permanently plastered there.
Because the person staring back at him in the mirror isn’t him. It couldn’t be, right? Because Buck was always the happy one. The first person to smile in every room. The person who laughs at every bad joke. He tries to picture the guy in the mirror smiling back at him, but his brain can’t come up with anything. Almost like the guy in the mirror has never smiled a day in his life.
The mirror reflects the face he wears, but he can’t remember when it became someone he couldn’t recognize.

Summary
Chimney isn't quite sure when it started.
Well. He knows it was after Buck and Eddie got back from Nashville, but that's a given.
It's been two weeks since they returned—give or take a day—and because of their injuries, they've both been benched with light duty. Eddie had grumbled and rolled his eyes at the decision, and while those reactions were usually annoying, Chimney had actually found his relieving. Especially when his counter part had nodded quietly and accepted his fate without complaint.
Hence now, why Chimney is watching his brother-in-law like a hawk from the loft, counting the seconds he's been stalled.
