You had a love-hate relationship with the city. It was magical on its best of days- the city lights, the buzz of activity all around, the skyscrapers drawing your line of sight into the heavens. But it was downright soul-crushing on the worst days- the blinking and blurring lights that never rested, the sound of a million trivial conversations encroaching upon your every thought, the buildings drawing up and over you, suffocating you slowly.
Today was one of the bad days.
And the cherry on top was a tall man in a trench coat coming into the shop and dripping water all over the floor.

Edward had always been what many would call obsessive, he would get stuck on something and it wouldn’t stop bothering him until he figured it out, it’s why he loved puzzles so much. They were something he could spend hours figuring out and it absolutely thrilled him. And the pretty waitress at his new favorite diner is just another thrilling new puzzle that Gotham has offered him. He decides to take her and all her mysteries as a prize for the work he plans to do to clean Gotham's streets of the filth that polluted it daily. He didn't care what it took, he would understand her and she in turn would learn to understand him.
AKA Reader is a waitress at a Diner in Gotham and Edward becomes obsessed with her after she offers him a slice of pumpkin pie
