And Kaveh hates the way he gets a little wetter at that—the way Alhaitham watches him, eyes flicking down to his lips—hawklike in the way he watches Kaveh so intently. The way he holds the flute to Kaveh’s lips, the way he has one arm wrapped around Kaveh’s waist so he can’t escape.
Slowly, keeping eye contact with Alhaitham, Kaveh parts his lips, just the slightest bit. Tilts his head back, lets Alhaitham’s hand follow the motion, pouring the champagne into his waiting mouth bit by bit.
Kaveh lets it gather in his throat until he can’t anymore, and then he swallows. Slowly and deliberately, and, with how close they are to each other, watches Alhaitham’s pupils dilate at every bob of his throat.

“I’m at home all day so… have at it, I guess,” Kaveh mutters, and then he’s quickly leaning up to kiss Alhaitham’s cheek before he hurries off down the hall. Disappearing just as quickly as he had come.
Alhaitham stares after him, blinking in surprise, before he looks at the small item in his hand.
It’s a remote. There’s a switch on it, with four settings. Off, low, medium and high.
