By morning, the headline is everywhere.
Ilya has announced he'll be out for the season and every theory under the sun has come up: injury, contract drama, attitude problems.
Somehow, I wish any of those were true. It would be better than the truth.
Instead, I am sitting in a locker room, 112 miles away from him, wondering how we are going to survive this - or worse, if he will.

This is not a fic about sickness so much as the life that gathers around it: the ugly parts, the funny parts, the people who stay, and the terrifying, ordinary miracle of still having something to love. This is about holding onto the best, even through the worst.

Summary
Ilya Rozanov is having a very good night. He’s scored a goal, his edges are perfect, and his chirping of the Vegas Golden Knights’ roster is reaching art-form levels of arrogance.
