Summary
Akira would be the first to admit that he’s heavily reliant on his third eye inside and outside of the Metaverse, even with the headaches, the migraines, and all that comes with them. As the Phantom Thieves stumble through one rigged game after the next, in a never-ending Casino practically designed to trip them up, Akira knows that he’s dangerously close to his limit. But there’s only one way they’ll get through the latest trick - an endless line of rooms shrouded in constant, Shadow-filled darkness – and he knows there’s no other choice. Either he manages a horrific migraine, or his teammates might die. It’s an easy decision.
It's a surprise when pushing himself past his limits to finish the maze blinds him as he’s reaching the exit.

“No way this Akechi dude is real,” Ryuji ever so slowly says, making wild gestures towards the same three photos Ren’s been sliding through for the tenth time in the span of only a few seconds.
“Block him immediately. That’s the most obvious catfishing I have ever seen. Also, what the hell is a COO supposed to be?”
Ren doesn’t know either. A quick internet research spits out the answer.
“Chief Operating Officer,” he reads out aloud. “Sounds…” Professional, expensive, hot, “...fancy.”
“Anything with three capital letters sounds fancy,” Ryuji grumbles.
or: Ryuji jokingly tells an overworked Ren to get a sugar daddy, never expecting to be taken seriously.

They're just teenagers; they don't really know how to deal with the aftermath of a brutal interrogation. Especially when they don't know for sure how bad it was. When Ren pushes for a quick run through the next palace, the other Phantom Thieves reluctantly go along with it, only to realize that was most definitely a mistake.

Akechi‘s eyes went wide as he properly entered Akira‘s makeshift living space and his gaze wandered over the horrendous amount of used tissues, lying around like it was the newest interior design trend.
“Hey.“ is all Akira could say before a coughing fit took over his entire body, shaking him until everything hurt.
Akechi only stood there, holding onto his case with gloved hands, blinking and trying to process the chaos before him.
“Let me try to assess the situation here,“ he finally says, sounding more than slightly annoyed. Fuck it, Akira might actually start purring. He could always blame it on the fever.
