Summary
“I’m sorry, Buck.” As Eddie held Buck’s hand, his other hand made its way to his cheek. “What can I do to help?” Eddie asked desperately.
“Make me forget it, Eddie” Buck looked into his eyes, pleading.
“I-I… I can’t do that, Buck.” Eddie shook his head.
“I know, Eddie.” Buck answered defeated. “It only happened once… before you saw me last night. I’m not addicted,” Buck admitted quietly.
“That’s good, Buck.” Eddie nodded slowly, his hand still cradling Buck’s cheek. He didn’t have enough words to describe how he felt about Buck, not even close. And maybe that’s why the next thing out of his mouth wasn’t planned.
“I love you, Evan.”

Summary
Buck knew how Eddie flirted. He’d seen it enough times to memorize the rhythm of it. How Eddie’s voice would dip lower, how his posture would shift ever so slightly closer to the other person. How he’d tilt his head and smile in that slow, deliberate way. How sometimes, if he was really into it, a faint flush would creep up his neck, like a quiet confession.
Buck told himself he only noticed because he was observant. Because he noticed everything. It was part of who he was.
But that wasn’t true, and the tightness in his chest told him so.
When Eddie leaned forward, elbow on the table, smiling at something the man said, that small, tilted smile, Buck felt the world around him blur. It was as if someone had opened a window in the middle of winter and poured a bucket of ice straight into his ribs.
