George's lips moved, forming words he couldn't quite voice. John leaned closer. “What is it, Georgie?”
“Why?” George whispered finally. His voice was hoarse, barely audible. “Why did you do this?”
John's expression softened into something that might have been affection. "Because I love you. Because you're mine. Because I couldn't stand watchin’ you waste yourself on meditation and spirituality and that wife of yours when you should be with me."
“This isn't… love,” George said.
“Isn't it?” John kissed his forehead. “Maybe not the kind we write songs about. But it's real. And it's ours. And you're goin’ to learn to love it too. I'll make sure of that.”
He pulled George into his arms, cradling him against his chest, and George was too weak to pull away. He lay there, listening to John's heartbeat, and felt the last of his resistance crumble into dust.

Fast forward a couple years. Ringo's next film project is a biopic of Pete Best, now a respected solo artist in his own right. To get into the role, he's got to go back to his roots—to music. And who else is there to help him but George Harrison?

Summary
“George,” John says, and there's something in his voice that makes George's pulse quicken. Not kindness, exactly. Not approval either, but attention, at least. John's looking at him properly now, not through him, and George feels himself lean into it without meaning to.
Then John tilts his head, and the smirk comes back.
“Have you any idea what we play?”
The question lands like a slap. George's face goes hot, and for a second he can't breathe properly. This isn’t dismissal, and George doesn’t really know what it is but he knows it's worse than that. It's John telling him he doesn't belong, that he doesn't understand what they're doing, that his song is so far off the mark it's laughable. And John's standing there waiting for an answer, eyebrows raised, like he genuinely wants to know if George has a clue.

This is my first attempt at a longer story, and at writing something completely fictional. And possibly something completely mad! While The Beatles are on tour in America in 1964 George is subject to strange visions of people and places he's never seen before.
