Summary
Victor has lived in St. Petersburg his whole life. He grew up walking down these streets, clinging to his mother’s hand, stumbling in his too big winter boots and gawking at the big, clunky cars racing past them on their way to daycare. Even the cracks in the sidewalk had interested him then, and his mother would have to tug him along to not be late. When he got tired and whiny she would hoist him up on her hip, and Victor would count streetlights and pigeons over her shoulder for the rest of the way, hands curled in her warm winter scarf.
Or: Victor never thought he'd leave St. Petersburg.

Yuuri’s sneakers slip on the icy surface, almost bringing him face first into the staircase—Victor’s hand is already around his arm to keep him steady, his own sneakers somehow rooted to the ground.
«Your flight leaves in two hours! Look at this!» Yuri says and dangles this year’s GPF gold medal in front of their noses. «I won; you’ve done your jobs! Now leave on your stupid vacation before I strangle you both!»

There was silence on the other end of the line. It lasted so long that Steve pulled the receiver away from his ear and frowned at it. Pay phones were old. Maybe this one wasn’t working despite the obvious dial tone when he picked up.
“Ok,” a stranger’s voice said over the phone. “First acknowledge the fact that you dialed the wrong number, but be quick about it because my cab is a few blocks away from my own plans and I’m about to drop some truth bombs on you.”
