Summary
The year was 1383 when a young blonde boy – Sir Hans Capon – was born as heir to Rattay, and despite common practice among the nobility, Lord Ješek of Pirkstein, father of the child, did not snuff out his son’s life upon discovering he was a nymph, and instead, decided to keep the nature of his son hidden. A decision his brother, Sir Hanush of Leipa, dared not question, even years after his brother’s tragic passing.
However, in the year 1403, when a mere blacksmith’s boy was forcibly assigned to be the page of the young lord, all it took was a single hunting trip to send a secret on its path to unravelling. A secret that Castle Pirkstein had fought hard to keep for twenty long years.

He didn’t like asking for help, either. Or asking for anything. Demanding, maybe. But not asking. Certainly not pleading. So when he’d found himself doing both — asking, and sharing — it forced him to consider just how strange a shape he’d contorted himself into.
Hans asks Black Bartosch for a lesson. Bartosch is a patient, hands-on teacher.

Theresa knows she must wait for him to excuse her. She knows this. Even without his celebrity in this town, his fine clothing is more than enough to indicate how this exchange is supposed to go.
But, he is yet to introduce himself. He is stuck in thought, and she can hear his mind keening, turning over itself.
He grips her arm. She is desperate to be elsewhere.
"Would you kindly excuse—"
"Sir Hans Capon of Leipa and Pirkstein," he says abruptly, and, with a smile, releases her—physically. His hand now free, he throws it in a gesture to the seat opposite. "Stay. Have a drink with me."
Theresa goes to fetch ale for her uncle and instead encounters an extremely irritating noble with his own petty agenda.

“You’re stupidly bold,” Hans says, and Henry’s smile widens until his nose wrinkles as he replies, “And do you like that?”
“Maybe.”
As he slips into his hose, Henry’s voice behind him starts low then rises, as though during the act of saying the thing, he finds some more boldness to push him through to the end of the sentence, “Then next time, you’ll have an answer besides maybe.”
Next time. A shiver runs through Hans that he hides in the process of throwing his pourpoint around his shoulders. “Next time,” he says, and starts higher than he ends, losing his own boldness halfway through.
It starts at the bathhouse, a drunken mistake, and then continues, and continues, and continues. KCD1 scenes reimagined with more intentional Hansry.
