Summary
He’s okay. He’s okay. He’s okay.
Relief washes through her like a tidal wave and the adrenaline that had been holding her upright for hours, seeps from her limbs. Samira’s legs buckle underneath her and she gasps in air as she finds her way to the floor, feeling like she can actually breathe for the first time since she saw Abbot limp into the ER.
“Jack’s gonna be fine,” Walsh attempts to console her, sinking to a knee beside her, if only to make sure she isn’t experiencing her own medical emergency. Samira clutches at her chest, the fabric bunching in her fist as she presses it into the space above her heart.
“He’s…he’s my–” Samira stutters out, trying to explain to Walsh what this all means now.
And somehow Walsh must know, must see the way her life has now carved out the shape of him from her eyes alone, because she nods. Smiles something small.
