"I don't think Koby can see you anymore." Zoro drawls.
"Oh. You think so?" Luffy asks and immediately stops waving. He stares at the horizon for a moment longer, squinting his eyes as if trying to verify Zoro's words, before he shrugs and stretches his arms above his head with a good natured grin. "Whew. That was fun! I hope we'll see him again soon."
"You shouldn't. He's a marine now. Kinda your sworn enemy."
Luffy blinks at him, no sign of comprehension on that open face. "We didn't swear to that."
"He's a marine." Zoro repeats.
"So?"
Zoro is the one squinting his eyes now, staring at the man in front of him. Luffy is framed by the sun, the rays filtering through the straw of his hat, coating his tanned skin with a speckled golden hue. It's blinding. It hurts to look at.
Zoro doesn't want to look away.
