    Summary

After millions of years, Szarekh, the Silent King, has ended his self-imposed exile to unite the necrons once again. He has seen the greatest threat their galaxy has ever faced. The necrons will require all their strength to oppose it. If they fail, all the worlds they have ever known will be consumed, and any hopes of reversing the curse of biotransference will vanish.

However, the necron's strongest general will not follow a coward.

Imotekh the Stormlord challenges Szarekh for the right to rule. To prevent a civil war, the triarchy announces a High Mot. In ten years, the lords will choose their ruler, and any who question the result will be struck down where they stand. The only rule: no candidate may harm another, either by deed or inaction, until the Mot is complete. Thus begins a pivotal decade that will decide the fate of the necrons...and the galaxy.

“Why are the shutters down?” He questioned, his own voice feeling loud and unnatural in the previous near-silence. He glanced around, noting that all the windows were tightly covered, not by mere blinds but actual metal shutters.

That’s why the lights in the room felt overwhelming. There wasn’t a hint of natural sunlight shining in.

“Routine lockdown drill,” Park Minseong answered.

Ferdinand bristles as he gets closer, but stands resolute. “Surely you are not being serious! You do not intend to serve that… that concoction at the round table? To our comrades in arms? Is such a thing not beneath you?”

Hubert cannot help but chuckle. A ‘concoction’, he calls it.

“It is not poison, Ferdinand. How cruel and senseless would that be? It is a completely harmless additive.”

“Hah! I would like to believe I understand your character better than that.” Ferdinand scoffs, pointedly prodding him in the chest with his finger. “You, carrying around ampoules of ‘harmless additives’ in your coat pockets? Tell me what exactly you put in this teacup.”

    Summary

“I bleed in excess, Ferdinand,” Hubert says—a murmur, vulnerable, momentary—in a different voice, with a different heart. When he turns back his head, he holds Ferdinand’s gaze like a hand holds a lance. “You simply do not see it.”

Ferdinand looks in wide-eyed shock at the man across from him, whose dark hair curtains one side of his face even now, rendering all expressions incomplete. He wishes, for a stark, clear moment, to reach across the distance between them and brush aside that hair, tenderly, a gesture lost to history, and find what it keeps from him.

A foal, a correspondence, and a realization, after the war.
