Summary
Saint Denis is torn between Muzio Dipaolo and Angelo Bronte, the two men locked in an ancient feud, following the two men from Italy, across the Pacific, up the Lannahachee, settling in the French city on the southern shore of Lemoyne. Everyone knows them, and everyone is owned by them. Everyone knows that Muzio Dipaolo is the charming, devil-in-disguise, and everyone knows that Angelo Bronte is the master puppeteer.
What people don't know, however, is that Muzio treasures one thing more than he does money and power - his darling daughter, Lucia. She is intelligent, quiet, and curious, and completely, and utterly, sequestered, locked away from the street thugs and stray bullets.
And she doesn't remember a single thing of the past five years.
Muzio would do anything for his daughter. He would do anything to keep her safe. And after years of subtle warfare with his long time rival, he has finally had enough.
