“I can't do this.” Rimmer announced with a fake air of calmness in his voice as he stared down the door to the reception.
“Dont be daft, it don’t suit ya” Lister replied, giving him a friendly shove towards the door. Rimmer shook his head and stepped away from the door again, staring it down. Lister watched as his bunkmate reached for the handle, snatching his hand away as if it burnt him.

“Just a precaution.” he replied quietly, “If you hear anything during the night, no you didn't."
“Well that's ominous.”
“It’s not,” he sighed, sitting on the end of the bunk and kicking off his slippers before dropping his dressing gown over the back of the desk chair, “it's not ominous. I'm- I'm rather prone to nightmares, that's all.”

“I didn't wrap it cus I couldn't be arsed,” Lister admitted, as if that was what was strange about the situation, “Happy early birthday. I'd have waited ‘til Thursday if I could've but I've already stubbed my toe on this bastard thing twice.”

“Lister, you know surprises make me anxious.”
“Just keep the blindfold on sweetpea, we’ll be there in a tick,” Lister replied, shifting in the pilot’s seat of Blue Midget so he could reach out and place a reassuring hand on Rimmer’s thigh.
Rimmer has never gone to a beach before, so Lister takes him to one in honor of the three million and twenty two year anniversary of their first meeting.
