    Clark turned to face him, and Bruce could pinpoint the moment he registered his clothing, with the harsh intake of breath, the dilation of his eyes. Bruce bit down a smirk.

    “What? Something on my face?”

    “Bruce,” Clark replied, his voice almost a moan. “Bruce, baby.”

    Bruce simply tilted his head in faux confusion before letting his hand slide down his body, his fingers playing with the hem of the shirt. Clark stumbled over to him, his hands instantly finding Bruce’s waist and his thumbs rubbing over the fabric.

    “Do what?” Clark had that smile on his face, the one he had when he was about to tell a bad joke. He brushed a strand of hair off Bruce’s forehead, tucking it gently behind his ear, in one quick motion.

    Clark stops before the front door, glancing at Bruce with eyes full of adoration. Bruce gazes back coolly, but Clark has loved him for long enough to recognize the tiny tug at the corners of his husband's mouth. It's the same anticipation, almost eager, that they share in the moments before they leap into battle together, before they make love, even before Bruce makes up his mind to torment Clark at any of his press engagements with Wayne Enterprises (it's good to have hobbies together). It's the feeling of an unshakeable trust and synergy, strong enough to weather planetary threats and grade-school bureaucracy.
